Start with one ordinary question.
You can understand the system before you decide what to do with it.
Imagine that someone sends you a payment. A number changes on your phone. You can see that the money arrived, but you may never have needed to ask what actually changed, who keeps the record, or why anyone else accepts it.
Those are ordinary questions. They also lead a long way: from a bank balance to Bitcoin, from a shared record to a program that can exchange assets. This course follows that path one idea at a time.
You do not need to code, own a token or know the vocabulary before you begin. You need a little room to be curious and permission to stop when an explanation does not yet make sense.
Understand the thing behind the name.
The first part asks what money does and why different kinds have lasted or failed. We then build a personal financial base: a 30-minute money review, a plan to improve income, and a clear job for savings. From there, we meet the digital problem: if a message can be copied, how can a payment be spent only once?
Bitcoin gives us a concrete system to examine. We follow a payment, separate a wallet from the keys it manages, and see how independent computers check a shared history. We ask who can propose changes and what “decentralized” actually means.
Ethereum takes the story into programs, applications and markets. We look at proof of stake, the difference between websites and wallet-based access, and the pools that make automated trading possible. Each new capability brings a new question about control and risk.
Finally, we turn that understanding into practical judgment: researching a token, recognizing a dangerous request, protecting recovery information, and writing a private plan that starts with the rest of your life.
Give one idea enough time.
Each chapter begins with something you can picture. The writing explains what happens; the figures help you see the part that words alone can make difficult. Where a control changes an example, try it and notice what changes with it.
Then work through the practice in your own words. Some questions ask for a calculation or a choice. Others ask you to explain a new situation. Compare your reasoning with the explanation, especially when the right answer came from a guess.
There is no prize for moving quickly. Finish a chapter, take a break, and see whether you can explain its central idea without reopening the page. The module reviews bring earlier ideas together; they are a chance to find a missing connection.
The glossary is a place to recover a word, and the questions page helps with common sticking points. Both link back to the longer explanations. Source notes show where factual claims come from and where an analogy stops working.
Keep your judgment in the room.
An explanation can be clear and still be wrong. We make assumptions visible, separate a proposed benefit from a demonstrated mechanism, and give serious objections enough space to be understood. You are allowed to change your mind.
The course does not know your finances and cannot tell you what to buy. There are no required purchases, account openings or real transfers in these exercises. Understanding a system may lead you to use it, investigate further, or leave it alone.
Use fictional, non-sensitive examples in practice answers. The optional planning worksheets work in this tab and do not submit their entries; you can use rounded estimates or keep a real plan privately on paper. Never enter account numbers, passwords, private keys or recovery information. Save any downloaded plan somewhere you control.
Completing a page does not prove that a transaction is safe or that an investment will work. What you can build here is the ability to slow an unfamiliar claim down until you can inspect it.
